After 13 years in the NFL and 10 of those with the Atlanta Falcons, Julio Jones has announced his retirement from football.
During his prime, Julio Jones was regarded as one of the greatest wide receivers in the history of the game. He possessed the size, speed, and stride, and could high-point the ball as effortlessly as anyone in the NFL's history.
He was selected as the 6th overall pick in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Falcons. For his career, he will finish with 914 catches for 13,703 receiving yards and 66 touchdowns. Jones was selected for the Pro Bowl seven times and was a two-time All-Pro. Between 2014 and 2018, Jones was the standout at the wide receiver position in the NFL.
In 2016, he would help lead the Atlanta Falcons to the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots. In 2021, the injuries would start to pile up, and Jones was traded to the Tennessee Titans. He would spend three seasons with the team but fail to reach any respectable numbers and wasn't utilized due to losing a step or two from his freakish combination of size and speed.
After spending some time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022 and the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023, Jones knew that his time was coming to a close. Now, at 36 years old, 14 years after being selected by Atlanta, Jones should find his way into the Atlanta Falcons Ring of Honor, as well as the first-ballot NFL Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.
