I don’t know if you all remember, but not too long ago, I was one of Gio’s biggest critics. I’d post in this very group expressing how confused I was about his presence on General Hospital. I couldn’t figure out why he was introduced, what his purpose was, or how he fit into the overall canvas. To me, he felt like filler — just another young face with no real substance.
Well... consider this my formal apology to Team Gio, because I am now proudly waving the Gio flag myself. That’s right — I’m officially a Gio fan. And not just a casual one. I love him now!
What changed? Honestly, I think it was a mix of great writing and the actor finding his rhythm. Over time, Gio stopped feeling like a side character and started to shine in his own right. The more we saw of him, the clearer it became that he has heart, charm, and yes — a real place in Port Charles. Whether he’s showing loyalty to family, navigating his budding romance (yes, I ship it!), or holding his own in some serious scenes, Gio has proven he belongs.
There’s something so satisfying about watching a character you once dismissed evolve into someone you root for. I used to roll my eyes when he appeared on screen, but now I’m excited to see where his story goes. Every soap needs that unexpected underdog who sneaks up on you — and for me, Gio is that guy.
So to all the Gio fans who stood by him from day one: you were right. To those still on the fence: give it time. And to Gio himself (or rather, the writers and the actor bringing him to life): thank you for the glow-up.
Funny how things change, huh? From zero to hero in my book.
TEAM GIO FOREVER! 🙌💙
