Gabi Takes Extreme Steps to Expose EJ’s Secrets – Meanwhile, Rafe’s Memory Comes Rushing Back!

On today’s Days of Our Lives, Alex and Joy fill an uncomfortable Stephanie in on their new jobs at Titan. She thinks back to overhearing Sarah on the phone as she congratulates them. She’s clearly freaking out, so Alex and Joy offer to talk it out. But when Alex and Joy both offer not to take the job, Steph tells them that’s silly.

Joy shakily insists she may have gone with Body and Soul, but she waited too long to decide, and now she’s got to get a job where she can. In this case, Titan. Alex assures her that’s fine, then he and Stephanie leave while Joy sits down putting her head in her hands.

JJ Tries Keeping Gabi Calm

Gabi’s frustrated at finding no leads on Rafe in the kitchen, but JJ reassures her that they’ll find her brother and bring him home. Gabi worries EJ might kill Rafe, but JJ points out that EJ’s smart enough to know murder causes way more trouble than it solves.

“EJ’s the only one with the answers we need,” Gabi muses. They just have to figure out how to get them from him. JJ gets worried. “I know that look.” He cautions her to be careful, and she says she will be, then casually asks if he’s heading to Arnold’s room at the Salem inn. He is, but asks her not to do anything she’ll regret. “I promise.” He walks out and she grabs Rafe’s gun on the table. “And I certainly won’t regret this.”

JJ’’s out the Square when he comes across a woozy Joy, assuring her he’s a cop and used to be an EMT. He takes her pulse and offers to take her to the hospital, but she already knows what’s wrong. “I might be pregnant.” Oh. He congratulates her, but she tells him she’s screwed if she is because the dad is with someone else.

JJ awkwardly asks if he can help in any way, then offers to get her some water at least. Joy stands up, insists she’s fine, and hurries off.

Shawn Corners Savannah

Shawn drops into Small Bar to talk to Savannah. She remembers him from “Rafe’s” bachelor party and he breaks out the badge to start asking questions. “I quit that job way before the cops raided that place! And those drugs weren’t mine, I swear.” Great… Shawn says. But he just wants to talk about the bachelor she slept with.

He tells her the guy was an imposter, not Rafe Hernandez and she shrugs. “Let me guess. His real name was Arnold.” She tells Shawn about their last encounter and he fills her in that Arnold’s been pretending to be Rafe for months. She can’t offer much help, though, because they didn’t “do much talking.” The guy wasn’t deep, just good in bed and a sexist pig.

Shawn heads out and just as Savannah gets up to leave, Joy walks in and the dancer is thrilled to see her favorite character from Body and Soul. She and Arrow make an amazing couple! Joy nods uncomfortably.

EJ’s In Serious Trouble

EJ chats up Stefano’s portrait as he sips a drink, only for Rita to walk in and chide him for looking for answers from a painting. She can tell something went wrong, so EJ tells her they accidentally melted Rafe’s brain and he has no memories. And Gabi ran Feniger’s DNA before Rafe was returned. So Rafe’s back, except everyone thinks he’s Arnold and that EJ still has the real Rafe.

Rita points out that Rolf’s drug sometimes wears off eventually. EJ acknowledges that, but worries that it won’t wear off entirely so he can remember what EJ did. Jada and Gabi already burst in looking for answers he can no longer give because of this mess. He wants to know Arnold’s safely out of the picture, so Rita fills him that he was being difficult about going back to Argentina.

She made the executive decision for a more permanent solution. Just as EJ demands to know Rita didn’t kill Arnold, Gabi bursts in and the DiMera executive assistant rushes out to the office. EJ tries getting Gabi to just “jog on,” but she pulls out Rafe’s gun.

He tries calming Gabi down (in the most condescending way possible) but she demands to know where her brother is. EJ insists she won’t shoot him and risk going back to prison for murder, but she asks if she wants to test that theory. “If I have to shoot you, I will.” She’ll just wipe her prints away, but EJ points out Rita saw her come in. Killing him won’t end well for her. Gabi shouts at him to cough up Rafe’s location. “Right now!”

Jada Helps Rafe Get His Memory Back

Jada heads into the interrogation room to push for answers from Rafe who she still thinks is Arnold. She mentions Rafe being her boss before her fiance and suddenly Rafe remembers the day he hired her. She crosses her arms, not believing her, and Rafe recalls exactly what he said, and that it was the best decision he ever made.

He starts spitting out a litany of facts about Jada, brings up their first kiss and tells Jada that he loves her. “Go to hell.” Rafe keeps going, telling her about their Salem PD problems when they started dating, the first time they made love and his proposal to her. He says he loves her and always will, then wonders what day it is and if they’re married.

No, she says. The last thing he remembers, he tells her, was sneaking into the DiMera mansion and… “Oh my God. I saw Arnold Feniger.” He doesn’t remember EJ or anything else after.

Jada leaves the interrogation room to check in with forensics about the prints they took off of Rafe — just as Shawn shows up to tell her they definitely caught Arnold. Now, though, Jada thinks he’s the real Rafe and starts explaining why. Then she gets a text. “It’s him. It’s really Rafe.”

Stephanie Starts Acting Weird With Alex

Stephanie and Alex get back to her place and he says it’s clear she wasn’t thrilled about him working with Joy. Neither is he, but after what he did to her, he owes her “the courtesy of seeing this through.” Steph assures him she trusts him, she’s just… concerned about the two of them being so close together and Joy getting attached. Alex promises that there’s nothing tying them together anymore.

He suggests they go back to his place for some fun, but Stephanie tells him Jada’s moving back out now that Arnold’s been discovered. He starts nuzzling her, but Stephanie isn’t in the mood. They both have early starts, so he should go back to his place. Mmm. Right. “You sure this isn’t about Joy?” It’s not, she lies, then kisses him.

Rafe’s Back for Real!

In the show’s final moments, Savannah offers to buy a drink, then when Joy says just a club soda, the superfan immediately suspects she’s pregnant. Joy says she doesn’t want to talk about it, and Savannah promises her lips are sealed.

JJ gets back to the Hernandez home, sees Gabi’s gone and so is Rafe’s gun. “Oh no.” He rushes over to the DiMera mansion and shows up just as Gabi’s counting down to one, promising to pull the trigger. JJ tells her EJ won’t tell her where Rafe is, but he can. He’s at the police station! Gabi lowers the gun, looking stunned.

Back in the interrogation room, Jada rushes in. “Rafe. It’s really you!” He stands up and she tells him she still loves him with all her heart. “I will love you forever.” They kiss.

On the next Days of Our Lives,  Marlena and Steve look for answers, and Ava and Brady have a real conversation about their feelings.
