This week started off with a bang on General Hospital and as many prepared for the Nurses Ball, others were dealing with tension-filled confrontations. Two that immediately come to mind is Carly and Nina — and the big catfight that ensued during Monday’s episode.
Viewers listened as their heated argument quickly turned physical, which led to the women attacking each other. Slaps turned into tumbles and before we knew it, Carly and Nina fell over the couch and onto the floor with the latter on top — and ready to smash a candle over Carly’s head. It wasn’t until Joss appeared and pulled Nina off her mother when the situation was finally under control.
Often in these cases, stunt doubles are brought in so the daytime stars don’t risk getting hurt. And in the case of Laura Wright, who had been recovering from a knee injury, we can see why it was done for this scene.

The ABC soap posted a couple of photos of the ladies behind the catfight on its official Instagram and shared, “Nina and Carly’s battle royale wouldn’t have been possible without the expertise of stunt performers Heather Leah Bonomo (Carly) and Kara Smith (Nina).” When asked to “give them all a round of applause for making today’s all-new GH that much more dramatic,” fans had no trouble doing so and cheered the ladies on for their performance.
While we doubt that Joss interrupting the rivals as they blew off some steam will end their indifference when it comes to how things should be handled regarding their grandchildren, for now, Carly and Nina have been ordered back to their corners — until next time.
