‘General Hospital’ spoilers confirm that GH fans are still distraught over Charles Mesure’s decision to leave the role of Jack Brennan.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Mesure Is A Tough Act To Follow
We all knew that Mesure would be a tough act to follow. Those deep blue eyes and Aussie accent were enticing to say the least.
When Chris McKenna debuted on GH, it was jarring to viewers who were used to Mesure’s (GH)
Not to mention, Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) and Brennan were finally heating up after a long, slow burn, and they had just shared their first kiss days prior to his exit.
While the kiss was definitely worth the wait, fans were understandably disappointed. They were robbed of seeing the romance develop between Carly and Brennan, with Mesure playing the part.
Wright and Mesure’s chemistry was undeniable, and the spark between them was palpable. Mesure was the perfect screen partner to play opposite Wright, who is one of the best actresses on the soap.
That’s why it was a major blow to GH fans who were enjoying the vibe between Carly and Brennan only to have it interrupted by a new actor who didn’t even have an accent.
That being said, Chris McKenna stepped into a challenging and complex role, and so far, he’s doing a beautiful job and making Jack Brennan his own.
It feels unfair to compare him to Mesure as the bar was set very high by him and McKenna came into a situation where it almost feels like the audience resents him since he’s not “the real Jack Brennan.”
‘General Hospital Spoilers’: McKenna Is Making The Role Of Brennan His Own
However, the recent scenes between McKenna and Eden McCoy were flawless. We can see how McKenna’s version of Brennan operates, and he’s every bit as charismatic and cunning as Mesure. He’s just simply different.
McKenna and Wright don’t necessarily have the same sizzle they did when Mesure was Brennan but give it time.
There’s no telling where McKenna takes the role now that he’s officially recruited Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) and helped clean up the crime scene after Joss killed Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober).
The two of them work well together, and it will be interesting to see whether Joss will accept his offer. She’d make a fabulous WSB agent. She’s Carly’s daughter, after all, so she already has impeccable instincts.
As far as Brennan and Carly, we’ll see where it goes. I’m all for a Brennan and Carly pairing, especially if it means she doesn’t go back to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) for the zillionth time.
Carly deserves to be treated like a queen, and the recent scenes between Wright and McKenna in Carly’s kitchen are lighthearted and fun.
Maybe we should embrace the new Brennan and give McKenna a fair chance. So far, he’s been entertaining to watch. He has an appeal that makes him believable as this latest incarnation of Brennan.
