General Hospital Sprina Callback: Is Trina's New Accessory a Heartfelt Tribute to Spencer?

Despite Trina moving on with Kai, General Hospital seems to be throwing a lot of Sprina callbacks at the supercouple’s loyal fans.

Two Turtle Doves

The most memorable part of Trina (Tabyana Ali) and Spencer’s (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) relationship was when he gave her a box of two turtle doves, a symbol of a matching pair. He kept one, and she kept the other.

Tragically, when Spencer was presumed dead after falling overboard with Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl), Spencer’s dove washed ashore, while Trina kept hers close as she grieved her boyfriend. But despite Spencer being gone, he’s far from forgotten by Trina.

Couple Callback

Recently on GH, Sprina fans found themselves having deja vu when Trina fell off a step stool in the gallery, straight into Kai’s (Jens Austin Astrup) arms. The moment was almost identical to the scene when Trina fell off a ladder in the gallery and Spencer caught her.

Now, Sprina fans find themselves with another heartwarming callback to the couple. On the April 22 episode, as Trina offered Kai her support for his decision to get surgery that could save his football career, she was seen wearing dove earrings. Trina would only wear doves in memory of Spencer, and it was a sweet reminder of the love she’ll always have for him.

As for Chavez, after the major success of playing Lyle Menendez in Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, the breakout actor is now slated to appear in the upcoming I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel, as well as take the stage in Camino Real at the Williamstown Theatre Festival this summer.
