General Hospital star Bradford Anderson, 45, is reminding fans that his co-star Cameron Mathison, 55, is not Drew, the character he plays on the show.
As Drew has been under fire for his behavior over the past few months, fans of the ABC soap have expressed strong reactions to the character, with many even taking aim at Mathison himself.
On the most recent episode of That’s Awesome with Steve Burton & Bradford Anderson, the talk turned to Drew and his shenanigans on the show, which is when Anderson took time to point out the difference between the actor and the character, without naming Mathison.
“It’s so funny, He [Mathison] really seems to be like ‘alright let’s go’ there’s no protecting this anymore. It’s so funny to see him at work with kind of like a, and I say this in the best possible way, just kind of like an F-it attitude. Like, let’s go. Whatever,” Anderson said.
Steve Burton agreed without mentioning Mathison by name either. Then Anderson continued to point out the best in his co-star.
“Cause he’s such a kind, on-the-level kind and considerate. So when he’s playing the Drew stuff, like he’ll do something nuts and then just come out of character, so different,” Anderson expressed. “It’s just so funny cause they are so far apart, reality, and on-screen is so far apart. I think, like anybody, he’s used to being liked, and he’s an eternally likeable fella. It has to be a new experience, and I think he’s handling it so well.”
Burton agreed “100%” with everything his co-host said.
Fans aren’t just mad about Drew or how Mathison plays the character, as the actor recently riled up longtime viewers by spoiling a storyline. In response to a General Hospital fan question, he revealed who won in the Michael (Rory Gibson) and Willow’s (Katelyn MacMullen) custody case.
This isn’t the first time Anderson and Burton gave fans some food for thought. Parade reported that the two had a message for fans amid the recent casting changes.
