Sasha never had it easy over on General Hospital, from the moment Sofia Mattsson joined the show back in 2018. She’s been tormented over and over again in Port Charles, so hopefully, she can finally catch a break now that she’s gone! But Mattsson’s exit from the ABC sudser soon had us wondering if there might be the perfect role for her elsewhere… like on Days of Our Lives!
Fans over on Reddit’s Days of Our Lives page have definitely been pondering that very question. First, there’s the Abigail idea. Yes, the show seemed to finally lay those teases to rest and acknowledge that Abigail is truly gone, but we’re still intrigued with the idea. With Billy Flynn having left for The Young and the Restless (even if he’ll still be airing in Salem into 2026), Chad’s been recast with Conner Floyd.
And with a new Chad on our screens, maybe we could get a new Abigail, too! ” I could definitely see her has an Abigail recast if Marci Miller doesn’t return,” essentialsoflife wrote on Reddit. Chad and Cat are slooowly moving forward, so by the time this roles around, they could be heading for a wedding. And a breakup if Mattsson brings Abigail back once again!
A couple folks suggested that Joy could head back into town eventually, with Mattsson taking over the role. Even better, she could have Alex’s baby in tow! He and Stephanie have been flying high lately, and since this is Salem we’re talking about, they’re due for a shakeup soon. With that said, they might have to tweak Joy’s age a bit if that’s the case, as she’s supposedly in her early twenties.
Then there’s Claire. Last played by Isabela Durant, Belle and Shawn’s daughter has had a lot of problems over the years, but she seems to have finally gotten a hold of her mental health struggles. But we’re sure she’d have something to say about her mom hopping into bed with EJ! In real life, Mattsson may be a bit close to Martha Madison in age to be mother/daughter, but hey, this is daytime and they could pull it off!
Plus, Gwen and Claire were pals once upon a time, and with Gwen back in town and up to something, she could use a spare friend or two!
For our money, though, we liked the idea of Mattsson coming in as Sloan, last played by Jessica Serfaty. That was nathuan13’s suggestion, and we think she could do an amazing job in the role. Sasha started out on General Hospital as a con artist, hired by Valentin to pretend to be Nina’s daughter. And Sloan may have started out as a slightly amoral lawyer, but by the time she left, she was neck deep in schemes and lies.
We know Eric’s going to be back in Salem once again, thanks to Days of Our Lives’ big summer (and maybe fall?) preview. This time around, he could even stay, since the show’s been making it clear that he and Nicole have been having problems. They could break up and Sloan could slink back into town, maybe hoping to make amends. Eric would probably be a fool to go for it, but it could be darn fun to watch!
