Gia Giudice has shared more details on her “overwhelming” health scare.
It was nearly a month ago when The Real Housewives of New Jersey daughter revealed she had discovered a large lump under her left armpit. The Rutgers University grad immediately scheduled a doctor’s appointment and received an ultrasound to rule out a serious medical condition. She was eventually informed that the lump was a lipoma — a common type of tumor that develops under the skin.
Gia recalls breaking down in tears during her recent doctor's visit
Gia spoke about the diagnosis at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards (March 17), recalling her initial reactions to the “abnormal” mass.
“About a week and a half ago, I found this huge lump… It was huge, and it was bulging out,” she told ExtraTV on the red carpet. “I was like, ‘This looks so abnormal.’ It was tender. It was hurting me. So, right away, I went to the doctor and got an ultrasound. I got the results back, and I got a lipoma. It’s basically just when fat cells group together and form a lump on your body.”
Gia was understandably worried when she went to the doctor’s office, so much so that she became emotional when the sonographer began performing the ultrasound.
“As the lady was doing it to me, I [had] tears running down my face… ‘Say it’s not the C-word. Say it’s not,’” she recalled. “And she looked at me, and she was like, ‘You’re going to be OK.’”
Gia explains why she hasn't removed her lipoma
Most lipomas don’t require treatment because they’re benign; however, some patients opt to remove the lumps for aesthetic or comfort reasons. Gia said she fell into the latter group, as her lipoma was tender to the touch. She plans to surgically remove the mass in the upcoming months.
“It’s hurting me,” she told the outlet. “But right now, I’m on Accutane, so my dermatologist recommended for me not to get it removed yet because while on Accutane, your skin doesn’t heal properly.”
Gia — the oldest daughter of Teresa Giudice — said she expects to get rid of the lump at the end of May or the beginning of June.
“This is just a little reminder to always check in with yourself, check in with your body, don’t be scared to get an ultrasound,” Gia added. “Don’t be afraid to go to the doctor. It’s better to get on it rather than run from it.”
