Golden Knights’ Pavel Dorofeyev is one of the NHL’s most underrated players

Vegas Golden Knights forward Pavel Dorofeyev racked up 35 goals and 52 points in 82 games this past season, eclipsing the 30-goal plateau for the first time in his career.

The 24-year-old had only scored 13 goals during the 2023-24 season, making this 35-goal campaign a shock to quite a few.

Through one playoff game so far, Dorofeyev has one goal already and appears to be one of the NHL’s most underrated players.

Today on Daily Faceoff Live, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk discuss Dorofeyev’s impact with the Golden Knights.

Tyler Yaremchuk: Pavel Dorofeyev scored in the opener against Minnesota. I like him to do it again. This guy was running the quietest 30-plus goal scorer in the entire NHL this season. Frank, like, again, he has 35 goals for Vegas, so he might hold the mantle as the most underrated player in the league.

Frank Seravalli: Dude, you’re preaching to the converted, so we do this playoff pool with our media group, and I had the number one overall pick, and so with 19 teams in the league, you run out of really good players quickly. So, like the theme kind of becomes you go all the way or at least have a deep enough run that you can accumulate enough points. I had the number one overall pick on a randomizer, and I took Jack Eichel, and I was like, well, I got some kind of committed to the Golden Knights. My second pick was Dorofeyev. Then I sprinkled in all these other Golden Knights guys, and I feel like that guy at the crap stable that buys every number.

Frank Seravalli: So, it’s actually kind of fun watching a Golden Knights game because like, oh, wait, who was that? I think I got that guy. That’s been my motivation, but seeing Dorofeyev get on the board, I like going through the numbers before the draft, I was like, holy smokes, I didn’t even realize this guy had 35 goals. It just kind of goes to show you the depth the Golden Knights have, and I think they’re in a pretty good spot here. Yeah, they are.
