Golden Knights Sign Two Players To League-Minimum Deals

The Vegas Golden Knights have signed defenseman Robert Hagg and forward Cal Burke to league-minimum deals.

Hagg has bounced around the league a bit but has played most of his career with the Philadelphia Flyers. After leaving the Flyers he played for the Buffalo Sabres, Florida Panthers, Detroit Red Wings and most recently the Anaheim Ducks.

In the 2023-24 campaign, the 29-year-old played in just five games and failed to register any points. He isn't known for being much of an offensive threat with a career-high of five goals and 20 points which came in the 2018-19 season. That was also the only year he played in all 82 games. Since then, the most he's featured in is 49.

Hagg will provide the Golden Knights with depth next season. They currently have eight NHL calibre defensemen on their active roster but rumours have circulated that the team may be looking to trade a couple of them. If they do go that route, Hagg will provide security if any of them sustain injuries.

Burke signed with the Colorado Avalanche after completing four seasons with Norte Dame in the NCAA. Since then he's been an AHL player who's accumulated three games of NHL experience.

Last year playing with the Colorado Eagles, the 27-year-old scored 16 goals and 39 points in 57 games.

The Golden Knights continue to add depth players for both their NHL and AHL rosters and for players who are on low-cost contracts with potential upside. The Golden Knights hope Hagg and Burke could be players who fill in if they suffer injury problems like they did in the previous season.
