Golden Knіgһtѕ ѕіgn Cаmeron Wһіteһeаd to two-yeаr, entry-level contrаct

On Thursday, Vegas Golden Knights general manager Kelly McCrimmon announced the team has signed goaltender Cameron Whitehead to a two-year, entry-level.

The deal will kick in next season.

Whitehead was originally taken by the Golden Knights in the fourth round, 128th overall, of the 2022 NHL Draft. He joins the organization after spending the past two seasons as the no. 1 backstop at Northeastern University.

With the Huskies, the Orleans, Ontario native played 35 games each season. His freshman year was arguably the better of the two campaigns, going 17-14-3 with a 2.62 goals-against average, a .917 save percentage and four shutouts – tying him for the most goose-eggs posted by a rookie in program history. Whitehead backstopped Northeastern to its second straight Beanpot title.

Vegas' Golden Misfits one win from Stanley Cup title

Things were a little tougher for the Huskies this past season. Whitehead went 13-17-3 with a 2.74 GAA, a .911 SV% and one shutout. Yet, he was able to help get his team to the Hockey East Semifinals, ultimately losing to the eventual conference champions, the Maine Black Bears, in double overtime.

Across his 70 career appearances, Whitehead had a record of 30-30-6 with a .914 SV%, a 2.68 GAA and five shutouts.

Before his tenure with one of the four schools in the Boston area, Whitehead played two years with the Lincoln Stars of the United States Hockey League. In 74 appearances, he posted a 41-23-6 record, with a 2.98 GAA, a .899 SV% and six shutouts. He also posted a 5-4 record during the 2023 Clark Cup Playoffs. That season, Whitehead was named to the USHL Third All-Star Team.

The current Golden Knights (43-20-8) are first in the Pacific Division, five points ahead of the second-place Los Angeles Kings.
