Madi Prewett’s husband is sharing his story after she aired his sexual struggles on her podcast.
Grant Troutt told “Stay True” listeners Monday that he was on a “shameful roller-coaster cycle” of “looking at pornography” and smoking marijuana.
“[In] 2019, I’m following Jesus,” the 29-year-old recalled. “I’m early in my faith … and still falling back into all these sins.”
Troutt remembered his habits fluctuating “up and down,” explaining, “It [was] three days good, one day bad.”
However, he changed his lifestyle after experiencing “really bad” anxiety the following year.
“One of the last times I ever smoked weed, I had this crazy panic attack [and] thought I was overdosing,” Troutt said. “All these moments were happening to me, and as I look back, what that did to me is it scared the heck out of me to not do any drugs. I was like, ‘No more.'”
At the time, he also took his “sexual sin seriously,” which “led [him] into the arms of Jesus Christ.”
The pastor noted, “He was healing me. It was like he was stripping everything in my life because it was drawing me right into the person of Jesus Christ.”
Prewett touched on her partner having premarital sex in an episode last month, telling listeners Troutt didn’t think this was “a big deal.”
She said that after “continu[ing] to have sex with people,” he “started bringing an accountability in his life” and “chose to pursue a lifestyle of purity.”
The topic came up in June as Prewett addressed “break[ing] free” from her own porn and masturbation addiction.
The former reality star admitted, “That was something that enslaved me and marked me for so long. … I could not shake that.”
She clarified that this has not been the case for a decade.
Prewett is best known for her time competing for Peter Weber’s heart on Season 24 of “The Bachelor” in 2020.
She began dating Troutt the following year, and the pair got engaged in August 2022.
The duo tied the knot two months later and welcomed daughter Hosanna, now 5 months, in January.
