On Sunday afternoon, the Grand Rapids Griffins announced the signing of former University of Michigan defenseman Jacob Truscott to a two-year AHL deal that will begin in the '25-26 season. Truscott spent five seasons at Michigan (the last two as the Wolverines captain), where he went to three Frozen Fours and won two Big Ten Tournaments.

The Vancouver Canucks drafted Truscott (a Port Huron native) with the 144th overall pick in the 2020 Draft, but after five years at Michigan, those rights expired, freeing him up to sign with the Griffins.
At Michigan, Truscott played big minutes in all situations. While he never put up big counting stats (70 points over his five years), he was a responsible defender and effective puck mover. He was also highly regarded for his leadership, serving as a two-year captain.
