Gypsy Rose Blanchard shared that she’s open to the possibility of competing on “Dancing With the Stars.” Blanchard was a recent guest on Tori Spelling’s “misSPELLING” podcast and the two spoke about the prospect of Blanchard doing a reality competition show.
Blanchard was open to it, but explained that something was holding her back. “I mean, that’s the thing: I feel like I’m not talented with anything — I can’t sing, I can’t dance,” she said.
Spelling, who was a contestant on season 33 of “DWTS” wasn’t accepting that answer, and asked Blanchard’s stepmother, Kristy, whether it was true. Kristy said, “She’s got some moves,” and all three women agreed that Blanchard’s big personality would be an asset to the show.
Past ‘DWTS’ Rumors
Blanchard was released on parole in December of 2023 after serving seven years in prison for persuading her then-boyfriend to kill her abusive mother. Once Blanchard was free, she was thrust into the spotlight and insiders claimed she was a shoo-in for “DWTS.”
In a January 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter Blanchard laughed off the idea of appearing on the show, saying, “No, no, I can’t dance.” But she wasn’t ruling it out entirely. “I’m not the best person with rhythm, but you never know. Sometimes opportunities arise and it depends if I want to take it on or not,” she shared.
Blanchard, who welcomed a daughter, Aurora Raina, in December of 2024 with boyfriend Ken Urker, has chosen to spend her post-prison life sharing her story. She stars in her own reality show “Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup” on Lifetime in which she chronicles her daily life and personal relationships.
When asked by Spelling if she’d ever actually been approached by “DWTS,” Blanchard said no, and explained, “…I never put myself out there in that way …”
What’s Next For Gypsy Rose Blanchard?
While Blanchard has been very busy starting a family and filming her reality series, she remains open to new opportunities. While she admitted to Spelling that she’s not much of a cook, Spelling suggested Blanchard should practice and then release a cookbook. When asked what it might be called, Blanchard said, “Gypsy’s Treats.”
As for “DWTS,” Spelling offered to text the producers to help get Blanchard on. “I’d do it just to have fun,” Blanchard said.
If she were to become a contestant on the show, she wouldn’t be the first who had served jail time. Previous contestants who had been in prison include season 33’s Anna Delvey and season 31’s Teresa Giudice.
