The right winger has been on a tear as of late for the Sabres.
The Buffalo Sabres have been on an uptick as of late. With the win on Thursday, Buffalo is 5-4-1 in the last 10 games. This was amidst a 13-game losing streak. Buffalo still has a chance to go on a run and move up in the standings and content for a playoff spot.
One reason may be one of the stars from the 4-0 win over Ottawa. Jack Quinn, who since December 15th has 10 points, including two points in the win on Thursday, has been hitting it up on the ice. It could be one of the main reasons the Sabres have been playing much better.
Buffalo beforehand needed more ability from its wingers and forwards outside of Tage Thompson and Alex Tuch. Quinn has been that type of player and Buffalo will need him to step up if they want to move in the standings.
“I think my game is to be an offensive producer and score, so some tough times at the start of the year,” Quinn told reporters after the game against Ottawa. “Things were feeling a lot harder for me than years before, for some reason. But it’s nice to see some of the work I’ve been putting in pay off.”
Jack Quinn, has two game winning goals in the past month
He had the deciding goal in a dominant win against the Chicago Blackhawks on the 27th of December. He also gave Buffalo a 1-0 lead and allowed Buffalo to go up 2-0 at just 13:17 in the first period. The second goal was off his left wrist after a Peyton Krebs shot.
Before those 11 games, Krebs had only six points on the year. He had missed a few weeks being a healthy scratch for a few games. It was a decision made by head coach Lindy Ruff. It may have been his early season play that would indicate why Ruff choose to leave him out of the lineup.
His play now though, would indicate he is a primary part of the lineup moving forward and may be one of the keys if Buffalo hopes to make a run in January and February.
Since his resurgence, his lowest amount of time on ice is about 14 1/2 minutes. Lindy Ruff seemed to see exactly how Quinn has performed and continue to rely on him as the season moves on.
If Quinn continues on the tear, and the Sabres can continue to win, moving up in the standings may be only a matter of time.
