Heather Dubrow and her husband, Terry Dubrow, are so proud of their daughter, Kat Dubrow, following her admission into Yale University. Weeks after The Real Housewives of Orange County cast member announced that Kat got admitted into the Ivy League school, she shared how Kat got into Yale.
One thing is for sure — Heather and Terry did not pay for their kid to get into Yale. Heather spoke with Us Weekly on Friday, May 16, where she joked about the rumor that she and her plastic surgeon husband paid for their daughter to get in. This comes after she was asked in Instagram comments how much she donated to the university, to which she replied, "$0."
"Oh God, listen — that ship has sailed a long time ago," she said. "Even if I wanted to pay, that's not a thing."
Heather continued, noting that Kat got in on her own merit, even though Terry received his Master's Degree from the same school in the 1980s.
Heather Dubrow reveals how she supports her kids
Heather also revealed how she's handled all four of her children pursuing the best educational decisions for them. "I'll tell you a quick story. When the twins [Nick and Max Dubrow] got into kindergarten, that process of private school kindergarten was so ridiculous and so upsetting and it gave me so much anxiety [that I said], 'I'm never doing this again.' So I told all the kids when they got to high school, 'If you want choices, study, and here's your guidance counselor, and do your best. I'll be your cheerleader, but I'm not fighting for you. This is your life. It's up to you.' And that's exactly what we've done," she explained to Us Weekly.
Heather Dubrow details celebrating Kat Dubrow getting into Yale Univeristy with a bed party
Heather recently celebrated her daughter's major accomplishment by throwing her a "bed party." The mom of four decorated Kat's bedroom with so many pieces of Yale merchandise and treats in blue packaging, including Cool Ranch Doritos and Oreo cookies, as seen in a photo posted to her Instagram account on April 24.
Heather spoke with TODAY on May 16, where she opened up about why she decided to throw her daughter such an extravagant celebration. "If you know anything about me, I'll celebrate the opening of an envelope," she joked. "I just feel like that's what life's about. It's about celebrating the wins and the little moments and the big moments and everything in between."
The actress told the publication that she even got emotional at Kat's bed party. "We cried. We hugged," she explained. "She's not my youngest, but she's my baby."
