With the regular season inching ever closer, that also means the 2026 Winter Olympics are nearing. The IIHF announced the preliminary rosters in June, naming Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar to Team Canada's roster.
Team Canada has just announced their orientation roster, filled with league-wide talent. Among that list, including Makar and MacKinnon, is also Makar's defensive partner Devon Toews.
Toews finished last regular season with 44 total points (10g/34a) in 76 GP. Of those 10 goals, four were game-winners. He made point contributions on the second power play unit last season with Colorado, and completes the first PK unit's quartet.
With 42 names listed, not all will be going to Milan with Team Canada in February. But given Toews' chemistry with Makar, not to mention his reputation as a top defenseman in the league, he's almost a completely guaranteed member of Canada's roster.
