'Hopefully he can learn and grow': Josh Allen has advice for Anthony Richardson

If there's anyone who can empathize with Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson, it's Josh Allen.

The Buffalo Bills quarterback who will face the Colts this weekend joined the "Pat McAfee Show" and discussed Richardson's situation.

Indianapolis' second-year player, who was selected No. 4 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, has been benched in favor of veteran Joe Flacco.

Allen, the No. 7 pick in 2018, entered Buffalo's Week 1 game after Nathan Peterman struggled. Allen missed four games later that season due to injury, and said he learned a lot from veteran Derek Anderson.

"Got to learn a lot from him. Learn how he handled the little things," Allen said, specifying walk-throughs, team meetings, and talking to teammates in the building. "In practice, he demanded a lot from the tight ends, the receivers."

Allen, who has been QB1 in Buffalo since 2019, said he hopes Richardson can benefit from watching Flacco.

"Hopefully he can learn and grow from the situation," Allen said.

Statistically, Allen's and Richardson's first 10 NFL games are remarkably similar.

Allen remains amazed at Richardson's Week 1 pass to Alec Pierce that resulted in a touchdown. Richardson was heavily pressured and throwing off his back foot, and the ball still traveled 60 yards.

"I'm a big fan of AR. Honestly, that throw earlier this season … I think that's one of the best throws I've ever seen in my entire life at any level."
