Say What?!? Bold & Beautiful’s Steffy and Hope Just Rewrote History In Order to Put Bill On Blast

One of the things fans love about soaps is that their loyal viewing is routinely rewarded. Thanks to having spent a whole lot of time with the characters, we know their history inside and out… which makes it downright annoying when writers decide to ignore what we’ve seen play out in favor of taking things in a different direction.
While that happens occasionally on other soaps, it’s become a near daily occurrence on The Bold and the Beautiful… especially where anything connected to the Luna storyline is concerned. These days, we’re told on a daily basis that Luna had a crappy life thanks to her pill-popping mom whose actions supposedly turned the young woman into a killer. This despite the fact that when Luna was introduced, we were told she and Poppy were close and had lived a pretty good life.
Worse, nothing about Luna’s turn toward the dark side makes sense given that about six seconds after being introduced to the canvas, she’d landed a dream job and rich, hunky boyfriend. But please, tell us again that not having Finn in her life is why her teenage angst developed a body count.
Now, the writers are at it again. For months, we’ve complained about Bill being completely ignored where Liam’s brain tumor was concerned. Eventually, we got a lovely scene in which Liam and Bill bonded at Il Giardino. Liam came close to spilling the beans about his time rapidly running out, but ultimately decided he did not want to worry Bill, Wyatt or Will.
Liam repeatedly explained his rationale to both Hope and Steffy… yet when the blonde accidentally blurted out the truth that wasn’t hers (or Steffy’s) to share, the writers once again decided to amp up the drama by rewriting history. Suddenly, Steffy and Hope were blasting Bill, insisting that his decision to get Luna released and then pardoned were why Liam kept his dad in the dark.
What we should have gotten was Bill reading Steffy and Hope for filth about their decision to keep him in the dark. The ensuring melee could have been made even more intense by having Bill discover that Taylor and even Carter were aware of Liam’s condition. Furious, Bill could have then lashed out by — as Liam’s next of kin — banning all of them from his son’s bedside. Instead, Bill continued to sit on the sidelines as Steffy and Hope greeted a slowly-awakening Liam.
What’s the point of watching a show every day if a few weeks later, the writers are going to gaslight us by acting as if what we saw didn’t actually occur?
