Christie Brinkley Reflects on the Moment She Learned of Her Husband’s Affair
Brinkley and Cook were married from 1996 to 2008. She learned of his affair when the father of his mistress, 18, approached her at a high school graduation event in 2006, while she was giving a commencement speech. In her memoir, “Uptown Girl,” Brinkley recalled how she discovered her husband’s infidelity, People reports.
“I need to tell you that arrogant husband of yours has been having an affair with my teenage daughter,” she wrote of what the father told her. “I was so stunned that I froze,” she writes. “As soon as I saw him, Peter’s eyes were already trained on my face, as he began shaking his head, ‘No.’”
She continued, “When your whole world falls apart and you realize in a heartbeat you’ve suddenly become the cliche middle-aged woman whose husband is having an affair with a much (much) younger woman, what do you do?” What she has done is pick up the pieces and emerge stronger and more resilient.
