The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 premiere is almost here, with a batch of new episodes to continue the long-running The Walking Dead franchise. Following the end of the original series that started it all, Dead City tracks the adventures of the unexpected and tense pairing of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) as they venture to the island of Manhattan, cut off from the rest of the world and filled with the undead, as well as plenty of living threats.

Dead City is one of the many The Walking Dead spinoff shows to be announced after the finale of the flagship series. It served as the first sequel series to The Walking Dead, continuing to follow the fan-favorite characters on new quests. While the first season earned a somewhat mixed response, there is a lot of excitement for the new episodes, and the show is taking a somewhat new direction regarding just how many episodes of The Walking Dead: Dead City fans will be getting.

The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 Has 8 Episodes

The New Season Is Longer Than Any From The Sequel Series So Far

The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 features eight episodes, more than the previous season, with the slightly higher count suggesting there might be a bigger story to tell this time around. To add to that feeling, the episode count for Dead City is also now the highest out of any The Walking Dead sequel series thus far. While the final season of The Walking Dead was split into three eight-episode parts, totaling a massive 24 episodes, the subsequent shows have told smaller stories.
