There goes Howie Roseman working his magic again.

Roseman and the Philadelphia Eagles agreed to trade with the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday night. The Eagles sent defensive tackle Thomas Book IV to Vegas in exchange for cornerback Jakorian Bennett.

The Raiders get their defensive tackle help while the Eagles land another cornerback to spice up their training camp battle at CB2.

Bennett, originally a fourth-round draft pick out of Maryland, comes to Philly following an injury-plagued career that flashed a ton of potential. Playing in 10 games for the Raiders last fall, Bennett racked up 26 tackles and eight passes deflected.

According toA to Z Sports' Justin Churchill, the Raiders' decision to trade Bennett away had a lot more to do with new head coach Pete Carroll's preference at CB.

"Bennett was the best cornerback on the Raiders last season, and actually led the league in pass breakups in Week 10 before a season-ending torn labrum forced him to have surgery," Churchill said. "He was playing through it, although these players can only take so much. Him being traded isn’t really a case of him being bad as much as it is a new head coach in Vegas, and him being the odd man out in a system he’s not meant to play. Or, there is the possibility he hasn’t bounced back as well as he had planned. But one thing is for certain: before the injury, he was playing extremely well, and his 4.30 speed can be used by anyone, especially a team with a need at the CB2 spot."

As for Booker IV, the Eagles had already mentally moved on from him as soon as they drafted Ty Robinson in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, so it’s no surprise that they were quick to let him go. Vegas gets a quality rotational piece in Booker IV that has the potential to do more if they need him to.

As the Eagles’ sixth DT in 2024, Booker IV stayed healthy and saw action in all 17 games, recording 18 total tackles, including two tackles for loss, four pressers, one sack, and a pass defended. He added another eight pressures and a sack in Philly’s postseason Super Bowl run. He’s definitely improved over the last two just, just not at a fast enough pace for the Eagles' loaded defense.
