I Don't Care If Daryl Dixon Season 3 Is Set In Spain, This Character Needs To Appear

Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon - The Book of Carol episode 5.The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon has spent two seasons covering the apocalypse in France, but despite the spinoff's change in location, I'm desperate to see one character return in season 3. Seeing the franchise finally leave America and explore Europe has been a breath of fresh air, as the French setting alongside the small stint in Greenland has added a lot of fun ideas to the zombie universe. Despite this, The Book of Carol is heading towards its climax and will therefore begin the spinoff's transition to a new country since Daryl Dixon season 3 will take place in Spain.

While it may be a little disappointing to see the franchise leave France, I'm excited about the fresh environment, and can't wait to see how the protagonists get there. Unfortunately, the change in scenery will also mean a predominantly new cast, suggesting not everyone will make it to season 3. The show has already killed off Losang and Genet, meaning the main antagonists won't return, while Sylvie and Isabelle's Walking Dead deaths rule them out too. Still, one surviving character remains a possibility for season 3, and I really hope to see them join Daryl and Carol in Spain.

Codron Deserves To Appear In Daryl Dixon Season 3

The Former Antagonist Has Become One Of Daryl Dixon's Best Characters

Having been introduced to the show as one of Daryl Dixon's main antagonists, I thought I would find myself hating Codron, but the show has done a complete 180 on his character in the best way possible. Despite having Daryl and his allies dead to rights in season 1's finale, Codron let them go after Laurent told him "God loves you" while at gunpoint. He revealed this was the reason for his change of heart in season 2 and has already proven to be a valuable ally for Daryl and his group numerous times since joining them.

Alongside helping Laurent escape when L'Union and Pouvoir came looking for him, the former antagonist also joined Daryl in fighting off the villains in the French catacombs, giving Codron the perfect redemption arc in Daryl Dixon season 2. Seeing him use his combat and survival skills for good has been incredibly satisfying, but it shouldn't end here. After shaking hands with Daryl and seemingly going separate ways, it's unclear what's next for Codron, but his compelling arc suggests that he deserves a chance to appear in season 3, even if he ultimately ends up sacrificing himself in Spain.

The Walking Dead's Codron & Daryl Make A Surprisingly Fun Pairing

Despite Their Rough Start, Daryl & Codron Work Well As A Team

Given that Codron's main objective from the opening episode was to kill Daryl, I was pleasantly surprised by how well they worked together. Naturally, Daryl is skeptical about seeing Codron again when he reaches Demimonde, but with Laurent vouching for him, the protagonist agrees to work with his former foe. Unfortunately, the duo doesn't quite battle side-by-side, but seeing them each eliminate members of L'Union and Pouvoir in the dark setting was fascinating. Additionally, they both faced off against major villains during the scene, as Daryl managed to kill Losang, while Codron incapacitated Jacinta before they left together with Laurent.

This fun pairing could happen again in season 2's final episode, which could cement Codron and Daryl as one of The Walking Dead 's most underrated duos.

Watching them put their differences aside for the greater good and ensure Laurent was safe made for a great scene, and it hopefully isn't the last time they team up. With Norman Reedus hinting at Daryl Dixon season 2's finale being among the best episodes in the franchise's history, I'm expecting some explosive action that may give Codron a reason to return and help. Therefore, this fun pairing could happen again in season 2's final episode, which could cement Codron and Daryl as one of The Walking Dead's most underrated duos, assuming they stay on the same page.

How Daryl Dixon Can Justify Codron Moving To Spain In Season 3

Codron's Redemption Could See Him Continue Helping Daryl In The Spinoff's Third Season

Considering Daryl and Carol are unlikely to have too many allies left willing to travel to Spain with them, the series has the perfect reason to have Codron join the protagonists. He is still looking to make up for his past sins, and giving Carol and Daryl assistance on their mission would help continue his brighter path, especially if it helps Laurent. Regardless of what happens in the finale, Daryl and Carol clearly won't make it back to America due to season 3's confirmation, and if Laurent is still with them, Codron also heading to Spain makes perfect sense.

Daryl Dixon encounters a major plane dilemma in season 2 of his The Walking Dead spinoff series, but he really should have seen it coming.

He has lost his family and is no longer part of any real alliance, meaning he is searching for a purpose. Guiding Laurent to America could be that, especially as Daryl and Carol only really have Fallou, Anna, and Ash left to help, suggesting he'd be more than welcome to join their mission. Without knowing how Daryl Dixon season 2's finale will play out, it's unclear whether he'll still even be alive by the end of the episode, but I think the character deserves an opportunity to continue his redemption by traveling to Spain alongside the protagonists.
