I Have An Issue With 9-1-1's Bobby Nash Replacement In Season 9

9-1-1 fans had to say goodbye to Peter Krause's Bobby Nash in season 8, and by the time the finale rolled around, they were saying hello to a new one. Unfortunately, I have one issue with the way the ABC procedural drama handled the task of replacing Bobby. In theory, Bobby's successor is sweet, but one detail about the situation bugs me.

Maddie gave birth to her and Chimney's son during the 9-1-1 season 8 finale. At the end, they introduced him to Athena and told her that they had named him after Bobby. The newborn goes by Robert Nash Han, making him the second Bobby Nash in 9-1-1 after Krause's exit. Maddie and Chimney wanted to honor their fallen captain and friend, and they did so by naming their son after him.

It's Odd That Baby Bobby Needed To Take On Robert Nash's Full Name

Chimney & Maddie Could've Just Gone With Robert

Of course, Chimney and Maddie naming their newborn baby after their recently deceased friend is a heartwarming way to pay tribute to Bobby's legacy. It ensures that he's never really gone. However, Chimney and Maddie might've gone a little too overboard by giving Bobby's full name to their son in 9-1-1 season 8.

The couple could've just gone with Robert for their baby's first name. That would've been enough to honor Bobby after his tragic death in 9-1-1 season 8, episode 15. Instead, Chimney and Maddie decided to take it a step further and utilize Bobby's last name for their son's middle name.

There must have been something different that Chimney and Maddie picked out before Bobby died, something unique to them. Nevertheless, this is the choice that they made. Now, 9-1-1 will never be without a Bobby Nash.

Chimney & Maddie's Kids Having Wildly Different Names Is A Quirk That 9-1-1 Shouldn't Ignore

The Couple's Daughter's Name Is Jee-Yun

Chimney and Maddie have always been a special couple in 9-1-1. So, it makes sense that their children and their names would also be unique — at least, from each other. While Chimney and Maddie's son is Robert Nash Han, their daughter is Jee-Yun Buckley Han (they named her after Chimney's late mother).

At the very least, 9-1-1 should mention how interesting it is that Chimney and Maddie's children have wildly different names.

The names Robert and Jee-Yun are quite different as they have separate origins. Consequently, the ABC procedural drama has the perfect opportunity to call out this quirk in the Buckley-Han family.
