“Dancing With the Stars” pro Alan Bersten has been known for being serious and was even called “mean” by his former DWTS partner, Amanda Kloots. Still, he also has a playful side to his personality, and he recently showcased it in a sweet video.
The star has a busy schedule when filming DWTS and participating in the tour, but he recently had some downtime and got to spend time with his family members.
Alan Bersten Highlights His Playful Personality by Playing a Joke
In the video, which was posted on Instagram on June 14, Bersten and a young child, assumed to be his niece, can be seen in the home section of a store as he plays a trick on her. He tells her that earlier, he was playing with Jeff (his dog), and he thinks he got “dog jaw.” He asks his niece to touch him on his jaw, and then starts barking like a dog. The playful interaction is only a few seconds long and ends with both of them smiling. In the caption, he wrote, “I think I’m the fun uncle.”
Fans have reacted to Bersten’s post, which has brought up a few memories for many of them. “Your nieces must love that you are in town!” a comment reads. “Growing up with an older brother, I now think this is the real reason I have anxiety and trust issues totally something my brother would do to me,” another fan wrote, but included laughing face emojis to suggest that their comment was playful.
Other comments include, “She looks just like my granddaughter, adorable,” and “You are such a fun uncle, Alan.”
Alan Bersten Is a Passionate Pet Owner
Bersten briefly mentioned Jeff in his video, and fans will know he is a passionate pet owner who adopted his Brussels Griffon dog in October 2024. He shared the news on Instagram by posting several pictures of himself and his beloved pet. “I’m officially a daddy!!” he wrote in the caption. “Everyone please say hi to JEFF!!! The sweetest boy in the whole world!”
Jeff plays an important role in the dancer’s life, and he brought him on the DWTS Live Tour 24/25. Speaking of his decision to travel across the country with his pet, he told E! News in May 2025, “It brought me so much happiness and stability. It was really, really fun and a big learning experience to take him on tour.”
He also shared a bit more about Jeff’s personality, saying, “He’s such an explorer that he loves just getting it everywhere. He loves just running around everywhere.”
