To no Chicago Cubs fan’s surprise, Ian Happ has cracked MLB Network’s Top 10 Left Fielders Right Now list once again.
If Cubs On Tap contributor Ron Luce didn’t say it enough in his most recent article, it’s about time people started putting a little more respect on Happ’s name.
Coming off one of the best seasons of his career so far, Happ continued his consistent play in 2024. Smacking 25 home runs with 86 RBIs, 34 doubles, and a .782 OPS, the switch-hitter proved why he deserves to be the number three left fielder right now, according to MLB Network’s “The Shredder.”
Happ’s Baseball Savant for 2024 was no surprise either. Landing in at least the 70th percentile in xSLG, Average Exit Velocity, Barrel Percentage, Hard Hit percentage, and LA Sweet-Spot percentage, top 80th percentile in xwOBA and Chase percentage, and the 94th percentile in Walk percentage, it’s no surprise to say Happ has been one of the most consistent left fielders in baseball for the last several seasons. He’s also averaged 156 games played for the last three seasons.
According to FanGraphs, Happ is projected to tally 22 home runs, 31 doubles, and 73 RBIs with with 80 walks and a .245 batting average in 2025.
