Iаn Rаpoport brіngѕ lіfe bаck to Sаіntѕ һіrіng Aаron Glenn deѕpіte recent report

Could it happen? Let's just say, we have no idea.

A day after we learned when the New Orleans Saints were likely to make a head coaching hire, the cycle is indeed heating up.

We have learned the Saints are going to be conducting a pair of second interviews with two of their favorite candidates from the first round. It's going to be New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka on Tuesday and Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver on Wednesday.

That's not all, though. On Monday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport gave us all an update on another top candidate, Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn.

Glenn will be interviewing in person with the New York Jets for his second interview, but Rapoport also stated that Glenn is going to visit with the Saints as well.

"Aaron Glenn is also expected to visit the Saints, sources say. He’s considered to be a key candidate there, as well," Rapoport wrote.

This new Aaron Glenn update is a little different than another recent report involving the Saints and Jets

Ian Rapoport brings life back to Saints hiring Aaron Glenn despite recent report

Less than a week ago, there was another report that stated Glenn preferred to land with the Jets when this is all said and done.

Monday, another report came out stating that Glenn would only accept another interview with the Saints if the Jets opted not to hire him.

Now, this doesn't entirely rule out the Saints. But, if it's true, it certainly lets the Saints know that they aren't Glenn's first choice. So, if the Jets were to hire another candidate and Glenn were to be available, New Orleans could make their move.

However, they'd hire Glenn while knowing he wanted to be somewhere else instead of New Orleans. Make that a big deal if you'd like to, but it's at least worth mentioning.

Glenn's Lions were just ousted in the Divisional Round of the playoffs by the Washington Commanders on Saturday night. It was a game in which Glenn's defense gave up 45 points and 481 total yards.

Some might be quick to point the finger at Glenn, but the reality was, his Lions defense was missing countless key pieces. In total, Detroit had 16 players on injured reserve. 13 of them happened to be on the defensive side of the ball.

Glenn had to deal with a massive, early injury to Aidan Hutchinson who was knocked out for the season the same week in which he had been leading the league in sacks. But, from there, the injuries just kept coming.

Will Glenn end up being hired by the Jets? Will he settle for the Saints? It seems like we are very close to finding out the answer to those questions.
