In addition to their eight draft picks, the Indianapolis Colts have also signed 15 undrafted rookies after the 2025 NFL draft to add to their 91-man offseason roster.
Just as we did with each of the eight draft selections, let's take a closer look at each of the Colts' UDFAs. Up next is Ole Miss safety Trey Washington.

Breaking down Indianapolis Colts' UDFA signing
Over four seasons at Ole Miss, Washington played 2,198 career defensive snaps, the bulk of which came over the last two years when he was a starter. Washington has experience lining up across the defensive backfield, but the majority of his snaps came at free safety, according to PFF.

Throughout his career, Washington has been a very reliable tackler, which has made him a strong run defender and able to limit YAC potential in the passing game.
In 2024, Washington held opponents to a completion rate of 59% and just 8.4 yards per catch, while recording an interception and four pass breakups. Among all safeties, Washington had the eighth-best run defense grade.
Also of note, Washington played nearly 500 special teams snaps across four of the six different phases as well.
They said it
Recently, PFF named Washington as the Colts' UDFA to watch this summer. With a very thin safety room from a depth standpoint, the opportunity to make a roster push does exist.

"We’ll highlight Washington," wrote PFF's Ben Cooper, "whose 90.2 PFF tackling grade and 87.2 PFF run-defense grade in 2024 both ranked in the top 15 among FBS safeties. Indianapolis lacks proven depth behind Nick Cross and Cam Bynum, opening the door for Washington to earn a role."
