Intelligence Fights for Its Life In 'Chicago P.D.' Season 12 Finale Promo

Will Intelligence be able to come back from this? After playing a game of cat and mouse with Deputy Chief Reid (Shawn Hatosy) in Chicago P.D. Season 12, Episode 21, "Open Casket," Reid one-upped Intelligence.

He came through on the threats he'd been dangling over them for most of Season 12 as Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar) got arrested and Burgess (Marina Squerciati) was stripped of her badge. "Forced to cease operations while under investigation by Internal Affairs, Intelligence goes off-book to bring down Reid. Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) and Burgess consider delaying their nuptials amid the uncertainty," the logline for Chicago P.D. Season 12, Episode 22, "Vows," teases. Reid is hellbent on destroying them, but like always, Voight (Jason Beghe) has one more trick up his sleeve. The problem is that it could destroy him. NBC released a sneak peek of the season finale episode airing on May 21, previewing the current state of things.

Chief Reid is the author of his playbook, so he knows what he must do. His next steps include a media brief announcing that Intelligence is under investigation. The unit is scattered as Torres sits in jail while Burgess and Ruzek contemplate postponing their wedding. Reid's latest play might have thrown Voight off his game, but he has been doing this for a long time and knows what must be done. When ASA Chapman (Sara Bues) catches on, she begs him not to ruin his life by doing something he might regret, but Voight thinks he has no other option. It's unclear what he considers doing, but could it be that the only way to destroy Reid is by killing him? That would be a drastic step, but Voight will do anything to protect his people.

Burzek Gets Married in 'Chicago P.D.' Season 12, Episode 22

The latest development at work would be enough for Kim and Adam to postpone their wedding — not only have they lost their jobs, but they could also be heading to jail. However, the invitations have been sent and people have RSVP'd. There is no stopping this train. We already know from their wedding images in the finale that they will get married. They're expected to hold an intimate wedding in a church with everyone present, even though Torres is nowhere to be seen. Could they have failed to get him released even after dealing with Reid? How will they deal with Reid?

Tune in to NBC next Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET to watch the Chicago P.D. Season 12 finale and find out. Stay tuned to Collider for further updates.
