Though his tenure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is largely finished, Iron Man remains one of the most beloved characters, not just in the franchise but in modern cinema. Portrayed by Robert Downey Jr., Tony Stark/Iron Man is the hero who launched the MCU. His first solo film started the franchise in 2008, and he remained a mainstay throughout the Avengers films. Despite appearing so frequently, Iron Man did not suffer from diminishing returns--audiences loved him. His epic sacrifice in Avengers: Endgame only solidified his legacy as a fan favorite.
