Looks like Jensen Ackles former Supernatural costars Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins are joining him on The Boys.
No, there isn’t a Supernatural reboot…yet. Prime Video’s The Boys recently stirred up excitement on social media when the hit show dropped a massive tease for its upcoming fifth and final season. It involves Days of Our Lives alum Jensen Ackles and his former Supernatural co-stars Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins.
They’ve Got Work To Do…Again
In a video that several Instagram accounts posted, DAYS alum Jensen Ackles kicked off the madness with, “Hey Jared, we got work to do…again.” The action then cut from Ackles to his Supernatural brother Jared Padalecki, who played Sam Winchester to Ackles’s Dean Winchester. The former Walker star picked up the proverbial baton and said, “Okay, I’ll tell Misha. Misha! We got work to do.” Misha Collins wrapped things up when he responded, “Okay. What are we doing?” Finally, a page featuring The Boys title ended things with authority.
The Supernatural Boys on The Boys
While it was long rumored that Padalecki would join the final season of The Boys in some capacity, we now know that Collins, who played the angel Castiel on Supernatural, will also join the hit anti-superhero comedy. However, there is no word on who Padalecki and Collins will play or the number of episodes they’ll guest star in.
As for Ackles, he was a series regular during the third season of The Boys, playing Soldier Boy, the most famous and flawed Vought superhero before Homelander (Antony Starr). Soldier Boy was basically missing from the show’s fourth season…until the final few seconds of the season.
Last summer, it wasn’t just revealed that the Big Sky and Tracker actor would return to The Boys as a series regular for the final season. His Soldier Boy character will be spinned off along with Aya Cash’s Stormfront in the upcoming series Vought Rising, which is reportedly rumored to start filming in August 2025. In addition, the busy actor is currently filming Countdown, a Prime Video cop drama that also stars Jessica Camacho and Eric Dane.
Supernatural Stars
Since Supernatural, Padalecki starred in four seasons of the CW’s Walker and a few episodes of CBS’ Fire Country, while Collins was a series regular on the short-lived CW superhero drama Gotham Knights.
The trio of actors aren’t the only Supernatural alums to make a home on The Boys. The connection here is Eric Kripke, who created both Supernatural and The Boys. Since the Prime Video juggernaut’s inception, Supernatural regulars and guest stars have populated the series, including Jim Beaver (Bobby), Nate Mitchell (Black Noir), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (John Winchester), Christian Keyes (Archangel Michael), and Rob Benedict (Chuck/God).
Supernatural was a hit drama on the WB and the CW that ended in 2019 after 15 seasons of television. However, Kripke left the show after five seasons. And now he’s riding The Boys to the end, which happens to be the fifth and final season.
So what say you? Are you excited for Ackles, Padalecki, and Collins to potentially reunite on screen? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
