When the Rangers obtained J.T. Miller this past season, he was imported for three reasons:

1. BE A MESSIER: A dead-from-the-neck-up culture needed a positive jolt. Nobody expected a Messier clone but at least the guy to make a HUGE difference. (He did not!)

2. BE A MAJOR CONTRIBUTOR: The expectation was that J.T. would produce goals and be a total inspiration. (He got half way there; then played golf.)

3. GET THE CLUB INTO THE PLAYOFFS: There was plenty of time and innumerable opportunities. (He proved as dependable as Mortimore Snerd.)

The fact is that Miller has been a failure in all categories except making big dough.

Maybe next year will be better. He has five more seasons left on his contract at an $8 million cap hit. \

In its most recent "Top 100" NHLers, The Hockey News lists Miller at 56. The Maven says THN was being too kind!

Adding the pluses and minuses and you have a reason that J.T. Miller could be traded for a second time in his Rangers career.
