Is Leo Next?! DAYS Shocker Hints His Time in Salem May Be Running Out!

When you start digging around to find out who shot one of the town’s villains, you might find himself in the crosshairs yourself on Days of our Lives.

Roving Reporter

Since Leo (Greg Rikaart) hit Salem, he has gotten himself into a ton of tricky situations. Now, he is investigating the shooting of town pariah EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel).

On the May 1 episode, Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) caught Leo going through her purse. While Leo told a lot of lies to get himself out of the being caught, Gabi also accused him of stealing the memory card out of Rafe’s (Galen Gering) camera. After Javi (Al Calderon) and Gabi left, Leo started dictating notes stating that he thinks Gabi is the number one suspect in EJ’s shooting. He also suspects Johnny (Carson Boatman), Ava (Tamara Braun), Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) and Rafe.

If I were Leo, I’d watch my back. Ava and Kristen have killed before — Ava murdered Carmine (Richard Stevens) and Kristen murdered Haley Chen (Thia Meghia). Sami (Alison Sweeney) and EJ would do anything to protect their son Johnny if he were the shooter. JJ (Casey Moss) suspects Gabi may be the culprit and works with Rafe. While silencing Leo seems a bit extreme, you never know where the writers will take this tale. There are also suspects who may have not been identified yet and will be as the storyline progresses.

History Report

Leo first appeared as part of a scheme orchestrated by Vivian Alamain (Louise Sorel) to seduce Sonny (Zach Tinker) and sabotage Titan Industries. After Vivian’s death, Kate (Lauren Koslow) took over the plan, leading Leo to falsely accuse Sonny of sexual harassment using fabricated evidence, including staged text messages and a secretly recorded encounter. When his true identity as Matthew Cooper, a former prostitute, was exposed by Will (Chandler Massey), Leo attacked Will, resulting in a confrontation where Leo was presumed dead after hitting his head on a fireplace.

Defying expectations, Leo returned alive, blackmailing Sonny into marrying him to keep the attempted murder under wraps. Their marriage was tumultuous, with Leo attempting to seduce Xander (Paul Telfer) and causing friction between Sonny and Will. The situation escalated when Leo’s mother, Diana Colville (Judith Chapman), arrived in Salem, falsely claiming that John (the late Drake Hogestyn) was Leo’s father. Eventually, Leo’s schemes unraveled, leading to the annulment of his marriage to Sonny.

In 2022, Leo returned to Salem as the boyfriend of Craig (Kevin Spirtas), Chloe’s (Nadia Bjorlin) father. Despite genuine feelings developing, Leo’s initial intentions to con Craig led to the relationship’s demise. Seeking revenge, Leo outed Chad (Billy Flynn) in a tabloid and drugged Sonny to make it appear they had slept together. He was later arrested for Abigail (Marci Miller) murder but was exonerated when the true killer was revealed.

Leo reinvented himself as a gossip columnist for the Salem Spectator, digging up dirt across town. He became entangled in a love triangle with Dimitri Von Leuschner (Peter Porte) and his best friend Gwen (Emily O’Brien). Dimitri, needing to marry before turning 40 to secure an inheritance, proposed to Gwen but secretly pursued Leo. Leo grappled with betraying Gwen but ultimately engaged in an affair with Dimitri, leading to dramatic confrontations and the collapse of Gwen’s marriage.

Leo’s life took another turn when he assisted Nicole (Arianne Zucker) in delivering her baby, Jude. Unbeknownst to Nicole, her baby was stolen by Sloan (Jessica Serfaty) and Melinda (Tina Huang), who faked the child’s death. Leo discovered the truth and attempted to blackmail Sloan to return the baby to Nicole. Struggling with guilt and the desire to do the right thing, Leo considered revealing the truth but was silenced by EJ, who paid him to keep quiet. Leo’s internal conflict led him to seek therapy with Marlena (Deidre Hall) and reconnect with his incarcerated mother.

Rikaart’s portrayal of Leo has been lauded for bringing a unique blend of humor, vulnerability, and unpredictability to the role. Leo’s quick-witted dialogue and flamboyant fashion sense have made him a standout character, often stealing scenes and adding levity to intense storylines. Rikaart himself has expressed delight in playing such a dynamic and complex character, embracing Leo’s larger-than-life personality.
