As if it wasn’t enough that The Bold and the Beautiful diagnosed Liam with an inoperable brain tumor, he was shot in the chest while trying to save Steffy from Luna in the July 8 episode (recapped here). Though he found the strength to get back up and take down Luna, he then collapsed and seemed to go into the light.

So is Scott Clifton really leaving The Bold and the Beautiful?

We’re going to go out on a limb and guess that the answer to that question is… no. In April, the three-time Emmy winner said that he didn’t know how the storyline would end. But the signs are all there that Liam is not the character who doesn’t survive the week.

First, there’s the fact that the actor is an all-star, someone at whom you can throw dramatic or comedic material and rest assured that he’ll nail it. Then, there’s the fact that Liam’s condition has brought back into his orbit not only Steffy but his other ex, Hope; in other words, the stage is set for a redo of that triangle (and heaven knows Bold & Beautiful loves to repeat plots).

But wait, there’s more. There’s also the fact that at the end of the week, Liam’s father is asking to see him; if Liam didn’t make it, Bill would probably be demanding to see the body, not the person, right? Plus, Grace has been pushing hard for Liam to undergo her risky treatment. That smacks of either a miracle cure or a con (more on that here). But either way, it says that there’s more story to tell with the patient.

And on top of all of that, it seems far likelier that Luna will die than Liam. She’s had every second chance in the world and squandered them, one and all. Whether Lisa Yamada’s character will stay dead is another matter altogether. She is, after all, the granddaughter of the indestructible Sheila Carter.
