With the New York Rangers re-signing Kaapo Kakko, is Ryan Lindgren next to receive a contract?
Lindgren is set to become a restricted free agent on July 1 and is in need of a new contract.
Through the past few years, Lindgren has carved out a role as a top-four defenseman and is a critical part of this Rangers team.
This past season, the 26-year-old had three goals, 14 assists and 17 points while averaging 19:21 minutes pergame.
During his exit interview, Lindgren expressed his love for New York and how he wants to remain a member of the Rangers.
“I love it here,” Lindgren said. “It’s the best, I love the guys here. I love the city. I love how the fans are and how much they care about us. I love being here and this is definitely where I want to be.”
While there are no reports currently on the status of Lindgren’s negotiations, it’s reasonable to assume the two parties will get a deal done before July 1.
It’s really not a matter of if Lindgren gets signed but it’s a matter of when and that should come sooner rather than later.
