It doesn't matter how great Jonathan Taylor was for the Colts last year he still isn't getting enough respect from the NFL

The Indianapolis Colts had their ups and downs last season, but their star from the 2024 season was Jonathan Taylor, who showed the world he is still one of the best RBs in the NFL.

Although it seems the rest of the league didn't quite hear him, with him falling out of the top five in ESPN's recent series that polled NFL executives, coaches, and scouts.

Jonathan Taylor falls out of the top 5 RBs in recent poll of NFL execs, coaches, and scouts

7. Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis Colts

"Taylor's dropping two spots from last season is a curious case. He pumped out 1,432 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2024 despite uneven quarterback play. His speed is still elite. He turned 26 in January. And he's the first back since Adrian Peterson (2007-11) to produce 6,000 rushing yards and 50 rushing touchdowns through his first five NFL seasons.

While his contract dispute in 2023 stalled momentum, he has never underwhelmed when playing a full season.

"He's underrated," an AFC executive said. "Highly productive and can wear you down before breaking off a big run."

Taylor's 24 games of 100 rushing yards since 2020 trail only Henry's 37."

After a two-year hiatus, Taylor returned to the 1,000+ rushing yards club, and he did it with a bang. Rushing for 1,431 yards and 11 touchdowns, the second-best season of his career despite only appearing in 14 games. Taylor finished with the fourth most rushing yards in the regular season behind Saquon Barkley, Derick Henry, and Bijan Robinson, all of whom played in 17 games. Taylor averaged 102.2 yards per game, which was the third most in the NFL, only trailing Barkley and Henry. Taylor averaged nearly 20 more yards per game than the next person on the list, Bijan Robinson, who averaged 85.6 yards per game.

Somehow, Taylor still comes in as only the seventh best RB behind players like Bijan Robinson (ranked fourth), Josh Jacobs (ranked sixth), Christian McCaffrey (ranked fifth), and Jahmyr Gibbs (ranked third). I guess the only thing Taylor can do is stay healthy this year and play as close to a complete season as he can to prove he should be viewed as the third or fourth best RB in the NFL, because that's where the facts on the field point. Taylor is still only 26 years old and has multiple prime years left in his career, if he can stay healthy, the future is very bright for the Colts' RB.
