'It was a feeling of emptiness,' Linus Ullmark’s EMOTIONAL phone call to Jeremy Swayman left veteran with ‘lot of tears’

   

No more on-ice bear hugs for Boston Bruins fans, as the team traded veteran goalie Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators. The trade took place on Monday, ending a cycle of hugs, and tears with the 2024 NHL Trade market.

Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman’s friendship is well-known throughout the National Hockey League. Not only are they close friends on the ice, but it extends even outside the rink. After getting a call from his agent and GM, Ullmark rang up his buddy to tell him about the heartbreaking news.

Recalling, the moment in a recent interview with the What Chaos podcast, Linus Ullmark notes it was a very emotional call. It took a “Lot of tears”, and time to settle with reality and say they can’t be working together anymore.

I remember I gave him the call as soon as I talked to the GMs and my agent, I called him right away, and I was shaking. It was a feeling of emptiness… Linus Ullmark on What Chaos podcast.

Ullmark admits he struggled to move on at first, but after letting it all out and hugging his wife, “the feelings subside”. He accepted it was time to let it go and to start a new journey again.

Despite the bitter feelings of veteran Linus Ullmark leaving the Boston Bruins for good, the goalie is also looking forward to starting his new journey with the Ottawa Senators. “It’s a very young, but exciting team,” he commented.

He recalls against them as Ullmark compliments the Sens saying they play “a really solid game”. He further added,

There’s a lot of speed and a lot of skill…they really showed how dangerous and how good they can be. And it’s all about consistency in my mind…that’s going to be a very dangerous team going forward. Linus Ullmark as per NHL.com.

Ullmark hopes it’ll be a great 2024-25 season with the new team. He believes in himself saying, “I showed my skill level,” playing all these years and can’t wait to raise the scale higher with the Senators.
