Here's the real backstory behind Team USA's three fights against Team Canada.
The fact that there were three fights in the span of nine seconds to kick off Team USA’s game against Team Canada on Saturday night was actually no coincidence.
According to John Matisz of The Score, J.T. Miller, Matthew Tkachuk and Brady Tkachuk created a group chat together to essentially plot the start of the game for Team USA.
“We had to send a message,” Matthew Tkachuk said.
That message was certainly sent as Matthew Tkachuk fought against Brandon Hagel, followed up by Brady Tkachuk against Sam Bennett and Miller finished things off by fighting Colton Parayko.
The Americans ultimately won 3-1, but they now are set to play Team Canada in the 4 Nations Face-Off championship game.
If it’s anything like the first matchup, expect a lot of fighting.
