Jаck Eіcһel ѕnаgged аnotһer Vegаѕ Golden Knіgһtѕ record on Tһurѕdаy

It was inevitable given Jack Eichel's incredible season. But the four-time All-Star has another Vegas Golden Knights record.

Ever since the Vegas Golden Knights acquired Jack Eichel from the Buffalo Sabres, they've banked on him to be the franchise center they've hoped for. Teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs with Auston Matthews and the Edmonton Oilers with Connor McDavid had their go-to guys for scoring. It seems that Eichel has broken another record. The previous holder? William Karlsson.

The "Original Misfit" held the single-season points record, scoring 78 points in 2017-18. He scored 43 goals and 35 assists in the inaugural season, making him the team's go-to scorer. Of course, the franchise has relied on balanced scoring throughout their history... That is until now.

Eichel scored a power-play assist on a Nicolas Roy goal, breaking the single-season record for the most points. It was business as usual for the third-best power play unit heading into Thursday (28.9%) as their superstar set up this "golden" opportunity for Roy's ninth goal in 2024-25.

A back-door pass that got Vegas to a quick goal against a playoff team is always welcomed. It was followed up by a Brandon Saad backhander, his 12th of the season. Slow starts were becoming a concern for the Golden Knights heading into Thursday's game. However, it appears a record-breaking performance ended that in the first period.

Now here's another question, dear reader. Can Eichel do the unthinkable and become the team's first 100-point scorer? If there was any player capable of achieving this mark, it's none other than the 2015 NHL Draft's second-overall pick. He's molding himself into an elite two-way player, creating opportunities for his teammates.

Can Jack Eichel be the Vegas Golden Knights's first 100-point scorer?

Heading into Thursday's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, the center was on pace for exactly 100 points. He had 20 goals and 58 assists before the contest, projecting to score 26 goals and 74 assists. Both the points (William Karlsson's 78 in 2017-18) and assists mark for Eichel in 2024-25 (David Perron's 50 in 2017-18) would shatter previous single-season records.

His record-breaking performance in 2024-25 ushers in a new era of Vegas Golden Knights hockey. No longer is the franchise tied to solely "Original Misfit" lore. Now, they've got their franchise player on the ice, scoring goals and elevating everyone around him. But what about that 100-point mark?

It's something that franchise players like Matthews and McDavid have achieved numerous times in their storied careers. It's also within reach for Vegas's own franchise stud, especially if he has a breakout game at some point.

Of course, some factors could prevent him from achieving that mark. First is the injury bug, which can strike at any time. It's not exclusive to the 4 Nations Face-Off representative, either. His teammates, including Mark Stone and Tomas Hertl, could be affected as well. There's also the rest factor from that aforementioned tournament. Eventually, you must rest your representatives before they wear down. When will that happen (if it does)?

Eichel has established himself as the franchise face for the Golden Knights, adding a new dynamic to the offense. It doesn't matter if it's the power play or even strength. The superstar forward always finds a way to set up his teammates for success. Thursday's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets showed that and fans could see that for years. As for 100 points? He can absolutely do it.
