The Philadelphia Eagles dominated the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX to secure their second Lombardi Trophy in franchise history. On Tuesday, the team is set to visit the White House in Washington, D.C., to celebrate their championship victory with President Donald Trump.
Despite initial controversy surrounding the invitation, the team ultimately confirmed they would attend, dispelling rumors that they might decline the President's offer.
However, Super Bowl MVP and star quarterback Jalen Hurts made a final decision on Monday regarding his attendance. He will not be joining his teammates, citing a "scheduling conflict" that prevents him from attending the event.
While Hurts may have a valid reason for his absence, reports quickly spread across social media, especially after he was asked in a recent TIME Magazine interview whether he would attend the White House. Hurts refused to answer the question just days ago, fueling further speculation.
Fans have had mixed reactions to Hurts' decision, with some supporting his stance and others expressing disappointment.
"Another reason why Saquon is the real star of that team," a fan said.
"I can’t imagine anything being more important than going to the White House no matter who the president is… how do you not want to Atleast see the building lol," another fan posted.
"Tom Brady had scheduling conflicts during the time Obama was in office too. This is really no big deal & not unprecedented. It is what it is," someone else added.
One more fan commented, "The “scheduling conflicts” are reported to be crying sessions."
It's important to note that back in 2018, following Alabama's national championship victory, Hurts did attend the White House with his teammates during Donald Trump's first term in office.
