Philadelphia Eagles 2024 first-round pick Quinyon Mitchell may not have logged a single interception during his rookie year, but he grabbed one during training camp on Monday!
According to Philly media in attendance, Mitchell picked off a deep pass intended for wide receiver A.J. Brown. Mitchell also had a pass breakup versus Brown.
"NTERCEPTION! Jalen Hurts picked off by Quinyon Mitchell. Hurts threw it off his back foot, and it was underthrown. Quinyon picked it off along the sideline," 94WIP's Eliot Shorr-Parks wrote on X/Twitter.
Unfortunately, there was no video evidence of Mitchell's great plays to go with the reports, so we're stuck having to use our imagination.
Schorr-Parks also noted how it took Hurts only 63 throws to finally throw an interception, compared to last offseason when he went 305 throws before he was picked off.
It's easy to chalk it up as "just training camp," but the way these players practice in the offseason directly correlates with how they will perform when it comes to gametime -- especially when the pads come on.
Mitchell is entering his second season with plenty of real experience under his belt. He finished his rookie year recording 46 total tackles, two interceptions, and 12 pass breakups. Quarterbacks completed 54.5 percent of passes and two touchdowns all season versus Mitchell last fall. He ended the year ranked sixth among all NFL cornerbacks, per PFF, and was named a Defensive Rookie of the Year Finalist.
If Mitchell can continue making big plays against a three-time All-Pro throughout training camp, then he's bound for an even bigger Year 2.
