Jana Kramer has let fans in on how she really felt during her time on “Dancing With the Stars.”
The “One Tree Hill” actress, who was a contestant on the dance show’s season 23, spoke on the March 26 episode of her “Unmask & Unwhine” podcast about the one big hurdle that prevented her from enjoying the reality competition.
“I hated ‘Dancing With the Stars’ because that was a big insecurity, because I don’t know how to dance,” she revealed to her guest, “Full House” actress Candace Cameron Bure.
Kramer was partnered with pro Gleb Savchenko for her 2016 ballroom run, and the pair managed to finish in fourth place despite Kramer’s struggles.
A few moments after dropping the revelation, Kramer rolled back her comment to say she didn’t actually “hate” being on the show, but that “it was just a big insecurity.” She added that it was her “least favorite” between “DWTS” and “The Masked Singer.” Kramer competed in 2024 on the Fox singing show, where she was unveiled as The Royal Knight after being eliminated in Week 9.
Jana Kramer Previously Spilled to Ryan Seacrest About ‘DWTS’
Kramer’s March 26 podcast comments come 6 years after she opened up about her experience on the reality show during an “On Air With Ryan Seacreast” interview.
Kramer called the reality competition “a full-time job.” She told Seacrest, “It’s really, really, really demanding.” She added, “I just remember I was really stressed. My daughter was so young.” She said the idea that contestants only rehearse for four hours is false. “You’ll rehearse all day long, and then you have interviews so probably like 10 to 12 hours,” she spilled. She also said if you have any insecurities, “it puts it out there like tenfold on the show.”

Jenna Kramer Didn’t Think Sophia Bush Would Ever Agree to ‘One Tree Hill’ Reboot
During the 2016 interview when Seacrest asked about the possibility of a “One Tree Hill” reboot, Kramer said “that would be amazing.” However, she told Seacrest she didn’t think her former costar, Sophia Bush, would sign on.
Kramer’s former costar may have surprised her, because Bush said in September 2024 that a reboot of the early 2000s drama had been in production for “nearly half a decade,” according to a People report.
Bush, who portrayed Brooke Davis on the show’s original run which began in 2003, gave the magazine a December 2024 update in which she said working on the revival made her heart feel “really full.” She also described her involvement by saying, “I will say it has been the most inclusive process. And that is something I really cherish.”
An official premiere date has not been announced.
