Janet Caperna is finally setting the record straight on the claims that she is a Vanderpump Rules "super fan," after Kristen Doute accused her of being just that in The Valley Season 2 trailer.
How to Watch

The Valley cast member and Ohio native exclusively spoke with The Daily Dish in a recent interview, where she admitted that she was a fan of Bravo prior to moving to Los Angeles. It was in LA where Janet became friends with VPR's Scheana Shay, who eventually ended up introducing her to her (now) husband, Jason Caperna. "I have been a Bravo fan for years and it's absolutely the reason I met Scheana," she explained. "I don't think of it as an insult. I've loved not just VPR, but lots of the Housewives shows. Everything for years. My mom and I have watched them together. It's been a bonding thing for us."
Janet had also addressed this during a May 20 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, where she confirmed that she did not move to LA to "infiltrate the VPR cast." "I want to say yes, because that would make such a good story," she said. "So I wish it was true, but unfortunately, it was just Scheana and I met and got along."
How did Janet Caperna meet Scheana Shay?
Janet met Scheana, one of her "first friends" in LA, at the Mondrian in 2017, right after she moved to LA following her divorce from her first husband. Scheana had also been going through her divorce from Mike Shay, so Janet initiated the conversation between them. "I went up to her and was like, 'How many other people are familiar with getting divorced under 30?' Or maybe Scheana was just 30?" she recalled during the first episode of her podcast, This Side of the Hill, in March 2024. "And so we talked for hours and just kind of bonded over that."
Janet told The Daily Dish in her recent interview with us that there are rumors online saying she "sought Scheana out" that day and "used her to get on reality TV." "Which isn't true at all," she noted.
Janet Caperna opens up about her life now since joining The Valley
Janet told The Daily Dish that she was thankful that she happened to meet Scheana that day, because it led to her fulfilling her "dream" of becoming a stay-at-home mom. "I'm so grateful I was a Bravo fan because now, eight years later, Scheana's one of the most wonderful friends I've ever had in my entire life," Janet noted.
"I think of it of more like a butterfly effect thing," she continued. "Like thank God I watched the show, and that day I happened to meet Scheana. Because now, obviously, my life has taken a completely different turn."
