Jasson Domínguez’s stolen base in the fifth inning Sunday night came at a price.
The Yankees left fielder was pinch-hit for an inning later by Cody Bellinger, with the club announcing that Domínguez left the game with a left thumb contusion that he sustained sliding into second base on the steal.
Yankees’ Jasson Dominguez, right, steals second as Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Enrique Hernandez puts a late tag on him during the fifth inning of a baseball game Sunday, June 1, 2025, in Los Angeles.
Domínguez was in the midst of a solid game, going 1-for-2 with a walk and driving in a run in the series finale at Dodger Stadium.
On the season, he was batting .247 with a .766 OPS in 49 games.
The severity of Domínguez’s injury was not immediately clear, but it’s possible he was having difficulty gripping the bat since he was not replaced until his spot in the order came up an inning after he got hurt.
The Yankees were expected to get healthier this week when Jazz Chisholm Jr. returns from the injured list, likely on Tuesday after missing a month with a strained oblique.
