Like many long-running reality television personalities, Jax Taylor is no stranger to controversy. This includes his years on Vanderpump Rules and current tenure on The Valley. Now, he’s opening up about his reasoning behind getting rhinoplasty in the past while also breaking down some of the televised moments that put him on the map.

Jax Taylor Reveals If He Had Nose Jobs Because of His Cocaine Use, Plus The Valley Star Picks His Best & Silliest Moments, Plus Which Pump Rules Scene He’d Take Back

Bravo fans first got to know Jax when he became a regular on VPR during the show’s first season in 2013. He was fired from the series in 2020, and he then returned to the network in 2024 when The Valley premiered.

According to US Weekly, Jax recently took to his In the Mind of a Man podcast to answer questions from fans. One of the questions had to do with his appearance as well as the drug use he recently admitted to. Specifically, the question was: “Did you have to get all those nose jobs because of your cocaine use?”

He laughed before answering and then said, “No. I didn’t like the way my nose [looked] — I really didn’t.”

“I wanted a nose job years and years ago, but I couldn’t afford it. My whole family has the same nose, we all do. I had an opportunity to get it done,” Jax continued.

While Jax’s first nose job was because he didn’t like the way it looked, the second procedure was necessary. As fans will recall, he walked “face first” into a glass door on VPR and caused serious injuries. He has also made “numerous visits” to the doctor since. Still, he says firmly that these procedures are not a result of his drug use.

Jax recently came clean about using cocaine on Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast. He said, “I have substance issues — primarily with cocaine. It’s hard to say out loud. I’ve been dealing with this on and off since I was 23, and now I’m 45. There were times where I would stop doing it, but then there were times where I’d go heavy on it.”

In other Jax news, he also recently broke down some of his most talked-about moments from reality television with US Weekly. Regarding his “most Jax moment,” he says it’s when he told Tom Sandoval, “I’m the No. 1 guy in this group.”

How about his “I can’t believe that’s a meme” scene? For Jax, it was the cast trip to Big Bear where he almost drowned. He said to a lifeguard, “Help, you can come and help me if you want.”

Jax revealed that his “siliest moment” was the joint Bachelor and Bachelorette parties from when he was engaged to Brittany Cartwright. In terms of the most “grown-up” Jax moment, he says that it was when he opened Jax’s Studio City, which fans saw in the season one finale of The Valley. He said in the episode, “The future’s looking pretty bright.” When asked about a moment he would take back, he says it was when he cheated on Brittany with Faith Stowers.

This all comes ahead of the season two premiere of The Valley, which will capture Jax dealing with several issues, including a divorce. He said about the upcoming season and his life in general, “I’ve been in and out of using cocaine for a while. I wouldn’t use it every single day. There would be months I would take off.”

Jax went on, “And then I would do it like a week here, maybe two times a month or three times a month. It got really bad though. When the divorce started, I felt like I was doing it recreationally.”

He then said, “I had all these other issues because I’m masking loneliness. I’m masking the texting women by doing drugs and drinking alcohol. I have all these other issues. So it’s a slow process, which is hard for me because I always look for the quick fix. This is one of those things in life that is not a quick fix. You have to work at it. I’m not used to that.”

Jax finished his conversation with US Weekly by saying, “This is not gonna work that way. That’s not how addiction, sickness, and mental health work. People are like, ‘Jax, you’ve done a lot of freaking damage. Like a lot. And this is just not going to go away anymore. People have had enough.'”

Season two of The Valley premieres on April 15.
