JB Gill lands brand new TV role with Channel 5 after Strictly Come Dancing final

Former JLS star JB Gill is set to front his own Channel 5 one-off documentary, after wowing fans with his dance moves on Strictly Come Dancing

Taking to the glitzy dance floor on Strictly Come Dancing does not guarantee celebrities instant stardom, yet JB Gill, last year's finalist, is soaring career-wise.

The ex-JLS heartthrob has secured another television role with Channel 5. The adored performer, fresh from mesmerising audiences with his moves, is experiencing a whirlwind of opportunities and has remarkably turned talents from singing to farming and presenting – a far cry from his boy band days.

Now, JB Gill is taking on an unexpected new challenge as he presents a distinct documentary for Channel 5.

Confirmed to present Britain's Favourite Service Station, JB will venture through beloved service stops renowned across the nation, some even hailed as iconic retreats by travellers.

A source speaking to The Sun disclosed: "Taking the mickey aside, this is a show that will likely pull in quite impressive viewing figures. After all, service stations are a bit of a guilty pleasure for most of us."

The insider continued: "Though it is still a bit of a surprise to see someone has come up with the idea of dedicating an entire show to examining them. Even more surprising is the fact they've roped in a former pop star as the host, but execs seem to think it will work."

JB, who is currently a popular figure on television, participated in Strictly last December, securing second place with professional dancer Lauren Oakley during the 22nd series, reports Edinburgh Live.

Despite finishing as a runner-up, JB's journey wasn't smooth sailing after his initial professional partner Amy Dowden had to withdraw early due to health issues, passing the baton to Lauren.

Just six weeks into the competition, Amy had to leave prematurely on medical grounds after collapsing backstage and falling ill. Since then, he has been concentrating on his television career, hosting several episodes of BBC's The One Show.

In the new hour-long documentary, JB will be the sole host, travelling the UK motorways in search of the best road pit-stop for fans.

The programme is in collaboration with a legitimate survey by consumer advocates Which?, as JB endeavours to identify Britain's best and worst service stations using a ranking system from bottom to top.

Channel 5 is yet to announce further details for Britain's Favourite Service Station, which will be airing in the coming weeks.
