Why did Jessel Taank join the Real Housewives of New York reboot? Well, every Housewife has their reasons. Money, notoriety, and fame are always great motivators. But being a RHONY Housewife comes with risks. So, which pros outweighed the cons for Jessel?
Regardless of the reasons, Jessel is likely glad she joined the show. Even though things got off to a somewhat rocky start, Jessel quickly became a favorite among viewers. But filming still had its difficulties. Jessel admitted she had to stay more guarded while filming her second season.
And while Jessel may strike a chord with fans, castmates aren’t always the same. Jessel further revealed that Season 15 filming was cut short due to fighting between cast members. So, why did Jessel choose to return for another season? Why did she choose to sign on at all?
Jessel Taank praises the RHONY reboot for its diversity
In a recent interview with Daily Star, Jessel shared that diversity “was one of the biggest reasons” she joined RHONY. In her words, “New York is such a cultural melting pot, and the DNA of the city is so diverse. Hopefully we showcase that, we’re like a microcosm of what the city is.” Indeed, RHONY’s reboot put an emphasis on variety in its cast.
Nevertheless, despite taking comfort in the show’s diversity, Jessel admitted that “it was so nerve wracking” to be part of the cast. She recalled, “I remember the moment when Andy [Cohen], during BravoCon, introduced is. I was half expecting people to boo us off stage.”
Jessel also reflected on RHONY’s sense of timelessness. “New York is such an OG franchise, it’s been running for 13 years and people are so invested in these women. Then for us to just come in and stand in their shoes, it’s big.” She added, “We’ve definitely got big shoes to fill. I hope we’ve proved ourselves at this point.”
Real Housewives of New York Season 15 continues Tuesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
