Jessica Capshaw is set to resume saving lives on ABC.
The Grey’s Anatomy alumna has joined the network’s 911: Nashville, where she’ll star opposite Chris O’Donnell. Details about her role are being kept quiet for the moment. ABC and 20th Television, which is producing the series, declined to comment.
ABC gave 911: Nashville a straight-to-series order in February, making it the third show in the first-responder franchise from Ryan Murphy Television. ABC renewed the flagship series for a ninth season (and third on the network after six on Fox) in March, while 911: Lone Star, which was set in Austin, wrapped after six seasons on Fox in February.
O’Donnell will play Capt. Don Sharpe, who runs Nashville’s busiest firehouse alongside his son — and is a rodeo rider on the side. Other details about the series, apart from the broad outlines of it following first responders in the Tennessee city, are also being held back for now, as is the norm with many of Murphy’s series.
Capshaw spent 10 seasons on Grey’s Anatomy playing Dr. Arizona Robbins and made a guest appearance in the show’s 20th season last year. Other recent credits include Hulu’s Tell Me Lies and the Netflix movie Holidate. Capshaw is repped by CAA and Gang Tyre.
Ryan Murphy, Tim Minear and Rashad Raisani are writers and executive producers of 911: Nashville. O’Donnell, 911 star Angela Bassett and Brad Falchuk also executive produce.
