Jets' Biggest Remaining Need Clear For Everyone To See

The New York Jets under general manager Darren Mougey and head coach Aaron Glenn have gone about their offseason work in silence and have brought some nice pieces into the building.

The most notable name is Justin Fields, who comes to the Big Apple looking to kickstart his career under Tanner Engstrand.

But for all the good work the Jets have done this offseason, there is one big and glaring hole that the franchise has yet to fully address - the receiver position.

Mason Taylor and Arian Smith were drafted, but right now, they aren't needle movers or players who the Jets and Fields know will come through on gameday.

For Pro Football Focus, the Jets need to get another receiver in the building.

"The Jets are missing a running mate for Garrett Wilson," Pro Football Focus writes. "Davante Adams was the team's only receiver other than Wilson to earn a PFF receiving grade above 64.0 last season. Allen Lazard remains, but he recorded just a 63.3 mark. They’ll also need much more from 2024 third-round pick Malachi Corley, who recorded a 57.2 PFF receiving grade in his rookie year on just 48 receiving snaps."

Exactly who the franchise brings in, if anybody, will be interesting, and it might be a case of letting those already on the roster battle it out and see if someone separates themselves before a move is made.

Allen Lazard and Josh Reynolds loom as the two key options for Fields if no other receiver is brought in, and we aren't sure if that is a good enough duo to pair with Fields and win games of football.

We could be wrong on that.

But it is clear the Jets need some more receiver help, we just aren't sure where they will get it from.
